Catching up with @jans who is building Roma in the current YC batch.

We talked about how the bottleneck is no longer coding.

Retention: people start with 2 shirts, then often come back for another 2–4.

Next up is scaling. A menswear founder she met through Intro (thanks @Raadmobrem) talked her out of influencers, who charge around $10k a post with no clear payoff. He told her to go after local boutiques instead.

Know anyone who owns or buys for a menswear boutique? DM please.

Sizing: she made too many S and too few XL. It turns out most men in her target market have outgrown size S.

Gabor Cselle
Packaging: she had custom boxes made that fit exactly one shirt.

Most orders, even first orders, are 2–3 shirts. Custom boxes take forever to make, so for now she splits orders across several boxes.

You owe it to your idea to at least try to vibecode it.

You will most likely succeed.

New trend: Founders of failed startups reviving their product via vibecoding but no eng team.

Have now chatted with a few ex-founders that are doing this. In some cases it’s tricky for the IP ownership to be clean.
